free youth weapon safety class

Families in the community are invited to attend a fun, educational, and family-friendly children’s firearm safety and mental health awareness event designed to give young people important safety information in an age-appropriate environment.

During the children’s firearm safety class, participants will learn basic firearm safety rules, how to recognize the difference between real firearms and make-believe guns commonly seen in movies, television, and video games, and what to do if they ever encounter an unattended firearm. Parents and caregivers will also receive practical information and simple safety tips that can help promote a safer home environment.

The event will also highlight children’s mental health education, with lessons focused on emotional awareness, healthy coping skills, communication, and the importance of reaching out to a trusted adult when a child is experiencing difficult emotions or needs help.

Organizers say the goal is to create an engaging environment where children and families can learn, ask questions, and take away information that can help protect both physical and emotional well-being.

The event welcomes families who want to learn more about firearm safety, responsible safety practices, and supporting children’s mental health through education and open communication.
